Let be friends again:Obasanjo, IBB settles querrel, call for peace and unity in Nigeria
Former heads of state, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (Retd) have both settled their querrel, just as they issued a joint statement calling for peace and unity in Nigeria so that the rate of insecurity in the country can be reduced.
In the joint press statement they both signed, Obj and IBB called for peace and unity among Nigerians. They decried the level of insecurity in the country and the way it is escalating at a very alarming rate.
It would be recalled that Obasanjo, also a retired military general insinuated that IBB was a fool at 70, after the latter granted interview calling his government as a failure.IBB made the statement in interviews he granted the media when he clocked 70.
The political rivalry between the two ex-generals got worse after the presidential election where Obasanjo supported the candidature of the incumbent, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
IBB wanted to become a civilian president too but Obasanjo would not obliged his former junior officer. Even when Babangida and others decided that contestants for the presidency from the north should present for vice president Abubakar Atiku as their candidate, Obasanjo refused to support them.
