Dana Airline Crash:LASUTH official stabs journalist
By Niyi Tabiti
Benedict Uwalaka a photojournalist with Leadership newspapers almost lost his life today when staff of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and families of victims of Dana Air Plane crash clashed with journalists carrying out their primary assignment in the hospital.
Journalists had gone to cover the release of corpses of the ill fated Dana Airline to families of victims at Lasuth but they got an hostile package in return as the families and staff of the victims freely used bottles, knives and broken blocks to chase them away for daring to take pictures.
An eye witness who spoke to Gistmaster News, said Uwalaka received a deep cut with blood gushing out of his head when a staff of Lasuth stabbed him. Journalists accused the men of Neighbourhood watch supposedly owned by Lagos State government of overzealousness, wickness and unpatrotism.
“The policemen were there and they watched the neighbourhood guards treat harmless journalists like common criminals?” asked an eye witness
Gistmaster further gathered that Kola Olasupo another journalist who work with Thisday Newspapers lost his camera in the pandemonium that happened at the mortuary side of the Ikeja General Hospital. The camera was seized and crushed.
