Mimiko search for new deputy governor?

As the governorship election  in Ondo State moves closer, the incumbent governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko who is contesting under the platform of  Labour Party is leaving no room for defeat.

The latest news concerning the election is that Mimiko is taking his time to look for the another  person to work with him as deputy. Contrary to the gist that the present deputy governor, Alhaji Ali Olaniusi is not confortable with Mimiko any more, competent sources disclosed there is nothing of such.Olanusi would have  loved to carry on but we gathered that he thinks he is old after being in active political life for over 30 years. It is now time for him to relax and enjoy private life.

The question on the lips  of many people  is that if Olanusi finally say goodbye to government, would the new deputy governorship aspirant  be Dr.Olu Agunloye who just decamped to the Labour Party from the Action Congress? Sources hinted that Agunloye is well qualified for the job given his pedigree and connection within and outside the state but some political associates of the governor are sceptical as they see the  former Chief executive officer of Federal Road Safesty Commission (FRSC) as politically unstable.He has decamped at different times. He is said to have worked with PDP,AD and later joined Labour Party. He decamped to Action Congress and now he is back in Labour party after he failed to get the party (ACN) ticket to contest the governorship election.

Immediately Agunloye returned to labour party,talks was all over town that he had been promised the seat of deputy governor.A source who spoke to Gistmaster News said “Mimiko knows what he is doing.He has a mind for political calculations. Don’t forget he has been in politics for a  long time too. He was a commissioner,a minister and now a governor, so he is not a feather weight”

The source further said “Agunloye or no Agunloye, Mimiko has nothing to lose. This is second term and surely he would win.Don’t forget that durning the trial of ACN governors he was there for them so if some of them turned their backs at him now no problem.He was an insider so he has the  answer to any political mathematics that ACN would bring up in Ondo”

Ondo ACN has picked Barrister Rotimi Akeredolu as their own governorship candidate for the  October 2012 election.
