Air Nigeria:Publisher lambast Jimoh Ibrahim over ill treatment from London Gatwick Airport to Lagos
UK based publisher of Check Out magazine, Lekan Fatodu has described the treatment meted to him and other passengers on Air Nigeria flight from London Gatwick airport to Lagos on Saturday as shocking, totally unacceptable and a mischievious package that has no place in modern airline operations.
Fatodu who lambasted the Chairman of Air Nigeria, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, said he is prepared to drag the billionaire and the airline company to court.
In a statement sent to gistmaster today by Fatodu, he said “I had the misfortune of flying Jimoh Ibrahim’s Air Nigeria for an urgent need in Nigeria yesterday”
” After staying over 5hrs in Gatwich airport we were told there was no fuel in the aircraft that every passenger, over 190 of us, should contribute £40 to fuel the plane”
The publisher said “Some of us immediately thwarted the scam which paved way for our final departure after a long delay in London.
As if that was not enought, Fatodu disclosed that they never knew the worst situation was awaiting us at MM International Airport in Lagos.
On arrival, at the point of getting our bags, after about five luggage had moved on the conveyor belt, apparently for the cabin crew, the rest of the passengers were told our bags were no where to be found in the aircraft.
The spokesman, who claimed he wasn’t an Air Nigeria staff that he was an airport worker who was trying to assist, said all the passengers should write their names on a piece of paper and keep checking at the airport for updates on the luggage.
“Though some of us refused to write our names as it seemed similar to the £40 fuel scam by Jimoh Ibrahim’s perceived agents at Gatwick; Jimoh Ibrahim has murdered someone else’s sleep so he should suffer perpetual insomnia!”
“I am going to pursue this case vigorously to a logical conclusion.
Jimoh Ibrahim must find my bags and those of other passengers; and he must also pay for the precious time wasted and inconveniences caused by his poor management”
Jimoh Ibrahim, a Lagos based billionaire and Chairman of Air Nigeria recently announced the sack of all staff of Air Nigeria. Staff of the company, who were mostly staff of the old Virgin Nigeria protested the non payment of the four months salary at the MM2 Airport.
