How Gbenga Daniel blocked Tinubu’s chieftaincy title in Egbaland-Osoba

Former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Segun Osoba yesterday accused an un-named past government in the state of preventing chieftaincy titles to be conferred on former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Osoba was obviously referring to the administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel

Osoba further said that the chieftaincy title of Aare Ago of Egbaland which was conferred on Tinubu yesterday would have been conferred on him seven years ago, but for the unfavourable disposition of the administration in power.

Speaking in Abeokuta shortly after the conferment of the tittle of Aare Ago and Erelu Aare Ago on Tinubu and his wife respectively by the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo,Osoba said Tinubu deserves the honour.

Speaking further at the occasion which was part of the activities to commemorate the 7th anniversary of the coronation of Alake, Osoba who justified the conferment of the title on Tinubu, described the former governor of Lagos as a courageous fighter for democratic values.

The occasion which was witnessed by eminent Nigerians who included presidential candidates of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC and the ACN during April 2011 general elections, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as well as ex-Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai among others.

Other eminent personalities at the occasion were former speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Aminu Bello Masari; ACN National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; Senate Minority leader, George Akume; House of Reps’ Minority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila as well as former governors of Lagos and Ogun states, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Aremo Segun Osoba.

The monarch explained that Asiwaju Tinubu fought irrepressibly for the protection of civic liberty in Nigeria.

In his remarks shortly after the conferment, the ACN National Leader pledged that he would continue to support every developmental initiatives of Alake of Egbaland.
