How EFCC arrested and detained Charles Soludo over N750 million bribery scandal
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission officials on thursday arrested a former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),Professor Charles Soludo.Sources at the Abuja office of the anti-graft agency disclosed that the former bank chief was alegedly mentioned in a N750 million ($5 million US Dollars) bribery scandal involving an Australian company Securency.
CBN awarded a contract to Securency an Australian currency production firm for the production of polymer naira notes durning the tenure.
of Soludo.EFCC questioned Soludo on the grounds that the former Bank chief and other top officials of CBN received grantifications in form of money to have the contract awarded.
On how Soludo was arrested, sources disclosed that EFCC operatives stormed his Abuja residence after a well planned survellance otherwise he would have escaped from home and ask his lawyer to go to court seeking injuction against his arrest and detention by the anti corruption agency. Another version to Soludo’s arrest by the EFCC stated that he was actually invited and when he got there around 2 pm, he was immediately taken into custody and interrogated.
