Lafia Emir Lauds IGP Over War On Crime

Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Isah Mustapha-Agwai has applauded the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun-Idris for boldly reducing crime in the country.

Speaking when Shuaibu Lawal-Gambo, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG in charge of Finance and Administration) who is in the state as part of his sensitization tour of North-Central, paid him a courtesy visit in his palace, Emir Agwai said “since the appointment of Ibrahim Kpotun-Idris as Inspector General of Police, we have observed that there is drastic reduction in the activities of criminals in the country.”

While appealing for its sustenance, he stated that enviable efforts of Kpotun- Idris as, ‘’a dogged, pious, patriotic and committed crime buster” deserved commendation adding “we laud his achievements so far so good in getting Nigeria almost returning to its normalcy of a peaceful nation through uncompromised discipline operation nationwide “I wish to commend the Nigeria Police Force under Idris-Kpotun’s watch for the dedication, commitment and complementary role to the presidency in the fight against electoral fraud, insurgency, kidnapping, terrorism, cattle rustling as well as our silent enemy which is corruption and indiscipline”, he said Continuing, Emir Agwai said “While commending the DIG for the visit, I am urging the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to continue to remain resolute and firm in the discharge of their arduous duties “I am aware that the maintenance of peace and orderliness is never an essay task in any society worldwide, it is my fervent prayers that Almighty Allah will give you the sound health, wisdom and knowledge to ensure that law abiding Nigerians  go about their business peacefully without being wavered by any means” he added.

Speaking earlier, DIG Lawal-Gambo underscored the role of traditional institutions in complementing the effort of security operatives in checkmating criminal activities.

He said the IGP Idris has directed the DIG’s in the 6 geo-political zones to go and sensitize their people on the unity, harmonious and peaceful coexistence as well as educate the people on the importance of community policing.

DIG Lawal-Gambo said that the role of traditional institutions in sustaining peace and unity in the country could not be under-emphasized and noted that the police force will not relent in partnering the institution.

According to him, “traditional rulers in the country have in no small measure supported and cooperated with the police and other security agencies which resulted in success recorded in curbing criminal activities”.

Lawal-Gambo however appealed to adherent of the major religions in the country to pray fervently for God to guide President Buhari and assist security agents to overcome security challenges bedeviling the nation.
