Towards enhancing the health awareness and hygienic habits among Lagos residents, the proprietors, staff and students of primary and secondary schools in the State are to benefit from series of free training programmes on infection prevention and control.
The activity that is being carried out by UK-based International Health Organisation, IHO, in partnership with London Profession Training Centre, LPTC, kicks off today.
The Country Representative, IHO, Mr. Francis Aleji, said the training is aimed at providing guidance and improving the competence of the Heads of primary and secondary schools including the nurses, teachers, food handlers, administrators, in handling personal and group hygiene issues when the need arises.
Aleji pointed out that the recent disease outbreaks suggest that good infection prevention and control practices are very important for a healthy community.
“School is a common place for spread of infectious disease due to convergence of children with low immune system and adults that come in close contact with them.”
