Ibadan—THE Oyo state government has warned residents who dispose wastes arbitrarily and traders selling under high-voltage power cables to be careful during this rainy season.
The warning was contained in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Toye Arulogun.
This became necessary in view of the Ogunpa flood disaster that claimed so many lives in the state on August 26, 2011.
The commissioner also said that the State Government had begun rehabilitation of additional seven roads in the city.
The roads are Iyanganku/NTC road, Eleta/Odinjo/Muslim road, Beere/Oranyan/Orita Aperin road and Ogbomoso High School/Baptist High road.
The government noted that the roads are either being rehabilitated, renovated and reconstructed through its agency; Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), disclosing that Ariyo Box culvert at Olorunsogo/Akanran road, Iyana Church/Oyeniyan along Iwo road/Olodo road and Ologuneru/Abanla/Alafara road are also being attended to.
The commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to infrastructural development in the state assuring that other bad roads across the state will be attended to in batches.
He called on the citizens plying the rehabilitated roads to exercise patience as the flow of traffic would be affected during the ongoing repairs.
He called on the citizens to be wary of staying under the electric wire/pole especially during the rainy season, adding that the people should be warned against natural disasters.
