Akeredolu said this at the weekend in Akure during the launching of the N100 million Club Elan Youth Development Multipurpose Centre to mark the 20th anniversary of the club.
While disclosing his readiness to end youth unemployment, the governor noted that he was part of the club during the formative days in 1997 as the state’s former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, hence the need for the collaboration “because we want to take our youths off the street. “
“That is one of the ways you can take them of the streets and engage their minds. We want to make sure that there future is guaranteed, that is one of the ways we can guarantee their future.
“The future of this country belongs to these people and we must nurture them now. I hope as we partner with you, we will be able to do this for our years, it is our interest,” he said.
Akeredolu lauded the club for its solid 20years of achievement and sustainable development, saying the recreational facilities provided for its members and community at large have been of immense benefits.
“A sound mind resides only in a sound body. Your recreational facilities here will do a lot for the youths to have a sound mind. It is basic,” he said, pledging to support the club at all times.
The President of Club Elan, Mr. Tony Omonori, iterated that the Youth Development Multipurpose Centre would considerably add more value to the youths in the state.
Omonori, who mentioned that the club has other arrays of opportunities for the benefits of youths and adults, asserted that they would use their wealth of experience and resources for the betterment of mankind.
