Osogbo—Prominent Nigerians, including family members, politicians and business associates yesterday converged on the Ede country home of the first executive governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who died last week for the 8th day fidau prayer amidst tight security.
Speaking, a guest lecturer, the Chief Imam of Offa, Kwara state, Sheik Muheedeen Oseni admonished Nigerian politicians on the need for fear of God, live in peace, honesty and love for one another, especially in their dealings with their fellow human beings who voted them into power.
Oseni who described late Senator Adeleke as a great political icon who contributed immensely to the lives of many, called on the people especially the political office holders, to use the Fidau as avenue to amend their ways and live up to the expectations of the masses.
Earlier, the Secretary of league of Alfas’ and Imans in Osun, Sheik Nurudeen Gbolahan, prayed for the repose of the soul of late Senator and asked Almighty Allah to grant him Aljarna fidau.
Speaking on behalf of the state government, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti who appreciated the dignitaries at the event, described the late Senator as an icon in the state who will for ever be remembered for his landmarks.
Adeoti said the painful exit of the late Senator was a rude shock to the State as well as the entire country.
Present at the Fidau include Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state, Deputy governor of the state, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori, Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon Lasun Yusuff, former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former speaker, House of Representatives, Mrs Olubumi Eteh, former governor of Oyo state, Otunba Alao Akala among others.
