ENUGU — THE Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, has appealed an order by Attorney-General of Enugu State, Mr. Milletus Eze, to discontinue criminal prosecution of an Enugu-based lawyer, Mr. Peter Eze.
The lawyer, Eze, was on February 7, 2017 arraigned in an Enugu magistrate’s court by the police for alleged criminal offences bordering on forgery of wills and conversion of property.
But just before the plea was to be taken, the attorney-general requested the trial magistrate to strike out the matter and stop further investigation and prosecution of the suspect.
IGP’s appeal against the attorney-general’s order, however, suffered setback as the court could not sit because of the state judiciary’s visit to the prisons.
The hearing was, therefore, differed to September 28, 2017.
