The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State council has lost another dedicated and active member, Mr. Clement Kayode Abidakun from the Association of Local Government Information Officers Chapel.
A statement from the Secretary,Oyo State council,Comrade Bola Ogunlayi, said Abidakun, aged 55 years died on Tuesday at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan after a brief illness.
While commiserating with the widow of the deceased, Mrs Funmilade Abidakun, the NUJ chairman, Oyo State council , Comrade Adewunmi Faniran and his executive members paid condolence visit to the family of the deceased at his Yemetu residence in Ibadan on Tuesday.
He enjoined her to take heart, with the assurance that only God could fill the vacuum created by her husband’s sudden demise.
He however promised that the Union would do everything within its power to make life bearable for the family and then prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased after which he signed the Condolence Register.
Abidakun went to Anglican Grammar School, Ojebode, Ibadan, where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1982.
From there he proceeded to The Polytechnic Ibadan, where he obtained Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication in 1986 and 1997 respectively.
He joined the local government service on December 15, 1989 as a clerical officer in Akinyele Local Government Area of the state.
He was at various time served as Information Officer of local governments, including, Iseyin, Oyo East, Ogbomoso South, Afijio and until his exit the Principal Assistant Information Officer 11 and Head of Information Unit,Atiba Local Government, Offa Meta,
Abidakun was an active member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, ALGIO Chapel, before his sudden death.
He is survived by a wife Mrs. Funmilade Victoria; and two children, Olufunke and Taiwo.
