Kaduna—The Archbishop of Kaduna Catholic Diocese, His Grace, Man-oso Ndagoso, has warned that unless government at all levels take steps to curtail the incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers across the country, the nation risked being militarised.
Addressing the press in Kaduna yesterday, as part of preparations for the commissioning of the Catholic secretariat, Bishop Ndagoso said the failure of government to protect citizens has increasingly made people to resort to self-help.
He said: “When citizens feel unprotected by government, they resort to a self-help. This is not good for us. People run away and abandon their homes when they see militants carrying arms. We cannot survive a militarised society.”
On the recent killings in Numan, Adamawa State, the Bishop said if government had taken proactive measures, the situation would not have degenerated.
