KATSINA – A Thirty years old woman, Salima Lawal has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command in attempt to sell her own twins for the sum of N350,000.
The twin girls who were named Hassana and Hussaina were said to be just thirty-two days old.
The State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Besen Gwana confirmed this while briefing newsmen shortly before parading the woman alongside other supects arrested for criminal offences in the state on Wednesday.
CP Gwana said Salima’s decision to sell the baby could not be unconnected to frustration and the present economic hardship in the country.
The Commissioner said Salima was arrested following a tip off information by a good Samaritan, one Babangida who posed as a buyer.
According to him, “On 2/12/2017 at about 21:00hrs, the Command based on a tip-off arrested one Salima Lawal aged 30yrs of Marabar Kankara, Malumfashi LGA of Katsina state who had negotiated to sell her twin children at the sum of three hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N350,000:00K) to one good Samaritan in Ruwan Godiya village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state.
“Case is under investigation,” CP Gwana said.
Additional information gathered revealed that Salima met her waterloo when she insisted on selling the twins baby for the sum of N400,000 but later settled for N350,000.
It was also gathered that she was married with two kids earlier and later had a baby, including the set of twins for her present husband who claimed he had divorced her two years ago.
