Senior Special Assistant ( General Duties) to Bayelsa State Government, Mr. Goddy Smith,  has condemned the invasion of Army formation by suspected gunmen at Ogbogbagbene community, in Burutu local government area of Delta State.

Smith, a former Niger Delta agitator and leader in Burutu local government, regretted the death of a soldier and others injured at the incident, and called on youths in the Niger Delta to shun any act capable of breaching the peace in the region.

In a statement made in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Smith noted that the prevailing peace in the region must be sustained and warned against act of criminality which could hinder the much desired development of the region.

He said: “ The people of Niger Delta region are known to be peaceful and law abiding, the genuine struggle is purely for the development of the region. Therefore, criminality, killing a soldier and injuring of persons by gunmen will never be the solution to the agitation, rather it is dialogue”.
