…Says our achievements are glaring

ABUJA: Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has boasted that victory was sure for All Progressive Grand alliance, APGA, at the November 18, 2017 governorship poll, where he is seeking a re-election for a second term.
Obiano, who spoke in Abuja, dismissed any form of pessimist against his chances of winning the re-election bid because the achievements of the administration in the last three and years are daunting and glaring in the state.
Recall the governor had picked the Nomination and Expression of Interest forms of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, National Working Committee led by Dr. Victor Oye at the party headquarters in Abuja.
Chief Obiano assured Nigerians and Anambrarians that the election would be held on schedule and would be peaceful.
While predicting victory for himself, Obiano, said, “I have already won my re-election, and that is what I am telling you. Haven’t you seen my performance? My performance will tell you what I can do at the end of my eight years.”
He said he has completed the first step for going for re-election, to pick the party’s forms, which you will complete appropriately and return, followed with the primary and thereafter emerge a winner, then the election.
“But what is important is what do I want to do for Anambra during my second tenure. Very critical, it is to institutionalise the big achievements I have already made in the last three and half years. By that I mean by the time I leave office in the next four and half years, Anambra will be like Lagos State.
“There will be self sufficient revenue wise and therefore, whatever comes to the state from Abuja, would be using as “jara” in local parlance. So that is the whole objective. We are doing that in trade and commerce, agriculture, in oil and gas, industrialisation.
“Our efforts will be up and running in three years. These are all within my administration period. And the things we are doing under our enabler will be going on-education, health, of course, security would be critical. Our people will sleep with their two eyes closed because I will be awake to make sure they are sleeping.
“And agriculture will be brought to a level that is unprecedented. We are going to be number one agriculture state in Nigeria, purely based on what we are doing now.
“You know we have Anambra Rice. We are exporting it to the United Kingdom, and we have orders to export yams to the United States of America and many more.
“So, we are very ready. We are now self-sufficient in rice production. Anambra consumes 320,000 metric tons of rice per year. What we are doing now, with addition of Orumba Farm, 275,000 metric tons. So we have already exceeded our consumption capacity. So, what is left is for export.”
