Some highway robbers, weekend, stormed and seized the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation’s NNPC’s mega filling station located along Katsina/Jibia road, where they dispensed free petrol to motorists after carting away with the station’s sales for the day.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred about 8 p.m on Saturday.
Reports said some motorists had driven into the station unknown to them that the robbers were already in operation there.
Gripped by fear, the motorists had submitted to fate on noticing the robbery going but were bewildered when the robbers, after dispossessing the station’s attendants of the day’s sales, began dispensing free petrol to all motorists.
The report said at least, no fewer than three motorists got free fuel from the robbers who are yet to be arrested.
The report said a witness who claimed anonymity said the operation lasted for “few minutes.”
The Katsina state Police command spokesman, Dsp Gambo Isa, could not be reached for comments.
