The monarch of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Orhue I, and the leaders of Amukpe, Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State, have disassociated the district from a 14-day ultimatum given to the Federal Government by some people to pay compensation on the rehabilitation of the Federal Sapele/Agbor road in the district which comprises 13 villages in the council.
The District Head of Amukpe Chief Peter Asagba, the President of the district, Hon. Godwin Okpako as well as the Secretary of the district, Hon. Francis Idonoro have on the instruction of the Orodje in a press conference, apologized to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, representing Delta Central, the Minister of Works and Transport, Mr Babatunde Fashola, the company in charge of the project for the publication in Vanguard of September 14th, 2017.
They maintained that such ultimatum does not have the blessing of the Orodje of Okpe and the people of the district, disclosing that Senator Omo-Agege has assured that compensation will be paid to owners of legitimate properties that are affected before such property will be destroyed.
While alleging that the authors of the publication are not known in the district, the leaders of the districts hinted that the Orodje of Okpe has instructed that the police should fish out the authors of the said publication for prosecution for carrying out the action which they said could stall the project.
