Mohamed Salah is a doubt for Liverpool’s opening Champions League group game against Sevilla at Anfield tonight due to illness.
The £36.9million summer signing was sent home by the club’s medical staff after reporting to Melwood yesterday.
Liverpool insist it was simply a precaution but having sat out training yesterday afternoon Salah could miss the clash with the La Liga outfit.
Salah’s absence would be a blow as the pacey winger has scored three goals in his opening six matches for the Reds.
A fine start to his Liverpool career was rewarded with the Standard Chartered Player of the Month award for August.
He told Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m very happy to have this start with the team and to help the team win points and win games. I’m very happy to be here, it’s like my family. I’m happy to be at the club with these players.”
