IBADAN—SOUTH WEST governors except Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State yesterday agreed to present a common position on the proposed constitutional amendment.
The governors including Governors Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State were present at a meeting which was held at the Government House, Ibadan.
Speaking on behalf of the governors, Mr Akeredolu said: “We are from Oduduwa. All of us being brothers are finding solutions to matters that are of common interest to all of us and we are doing it together.
“One of the issues we tried to look at is this; there are many things affecting us as you all know. It is so clear to us. There is a move for the issue of amendment of the constitution. And as expected, we believe we know as a group what should be our interest. We want to present a common position and have our Houses of Assemblies and other stakeholders who believe in us to come along with us on issues we believe are fundamental to our interest”, Akeredolu said.
The meeting of the governors has been consistent in the last four months.
Irrespective of political affiliations, the governors resolved to always maintain a common position when it concerns matters affecting the zone.
