NRM Backs FG Over $1B Boko Haram Fund.

***Says No Difference Between PDP And APC

By Andrew Essien, Abuja

National Rescue Mission (NRM), one of the recently registered political parties has taken sides with the Federal government over the proposed $1 Billion for the purpose of fighting the menace of Boko Haram insurgency in the North East.

The party however charged the government on the judicious use of the money for the purpose it was meant for even as it stated that Nigeria’s experience from 1999 to date shows that politicians have failed the country and called for them to admit the fact.

The Party’s Chairman, Senator Saidu Dansandau stated this at NRM’s maiden press briefing even as he lashed out at the two major political parties, All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) saying there were no differences between them.

Dansandau said ” Our experience from 1999 to date has unequivocally shown that we have failed, and that is a shame.

Furthermore, this experience has exposed Nigerian politicians as incapable of providing good governance. It is our conviction that all the socio economic and political crisis bedeviling this country are manifestations of bad governance.”

Speaking on the funds to fight insurgency, he stated that ” the money belongs to the 36 states and the FCT including the federal government and the chief executives of the various states and Boko Haram is a security challenge and the consequences of the fight has impact that is felt all over the country. I think it is worth while so long as the money will be prudently used.”

When asked to assess the current APC administration, he said “As far as NRM is concerned, we see no difference between them. In terms of the issue of corruption, implementation of budget, prudent management of the nation’s resources for the common good of the Nigerian people, we have not seen any difference between the APC and the PDP.”
