The highest currency denomination is the N1000 note. The N1000 bank note has the picture of two distinct Nigerians on it. They are Aliyu Mai Bornu and Clement Isong. Both of them were great Nigerians of their own era and till date people still feel the impact of such Nigerians. The 500 note was released some years before it.
The N1000 note is the highest denomination in circulation. According to Central Bank of Nigeria, Machine engraved patterns of various characters appear on the design. These patterns provide the tactile quality so essential to the security of the banknote.
The CBN also shared that Bold colours have been used on the background tint to link securely with the engraving and help give a distinctive identification to the design. It has an Optical Variable Ink (OVI) triangle, a kinegram and iridescent band as additional security features.
